Rooted in Clay, Grown with Care
In our latest brand spotlight we discover how Bergs Potter, a Copenhagen ceramics shop, became a global design name with heart, heritage and handmade pots.
Our work sits at the intersection of design, environmental health, and everyday life. The home shapes how we sleep, think, recover, and live, though many of the factors that influence this remain unseen and unexplained.
WLLW brings clarity to a subject that is often fragmented or oversimplified, translating research, best practices, and lived experience into guidance grounded in real homes and daily life.
Our work spans four interconnected areas, Studio, Origin, Journal, and Shop, each rooted in the belief that the spaces we inhabit have more influence over our health than most of us have been taught to recognize.
OUR POINT OF VIEW
The home is one of the most powerful health tools we live with. The spaces we inhabit shape how we feel, function, and live, often long before we notice them.
WLLW helps make the relationship between home and health more understandable, actionable, and relevant to everyday life.
Lisa Sternfeld is a designer and strategist working at the intersection of residential design and environmental health. She is the founder of WLLW, a platform that reframes how we understand the home and its role in shaping human health.
Trained at Parsons School of Design, Lisa began her career working alongside industry leaders including Thomas O’Brien and Adam Tihany, where she developed a design approach grounded in material integrity, longevity, and a strong sense of place. Her work has included projects for 1 Hotel and Homes South Beach, Baccarat Residences, Starwood Capital Headquarters, and private residences across the United States.
Her professional direction shifted following a personal experience when her young son developed severe respiratory challenges. In searching for answers, she began examining the environment they were living in, from the materials and finishes to the air and mechanical systems shaping daily life. What she uncovered revealed how little attention is paid to the home as a determinant of health, and how difficult that information is to access, even for those actively looking for it.
That experience became the foundation for WLLW.
Today, Lisa’s work focuses on translating environmental health research into practical, livable strategies for the home. She approaches residential design not as a visual exercise, but as a system that directly influences how people feel, function, and experience their homes. Her work brings together design expertise, material knowledge, and a research-informed understanding of air quality, water, light, and spatial experience to create environments that support both physical and cognitive wellbeing.
Lisa is a WELL Accredited Professional through the International WELL Building Institute and a Global Wellness Ambassador with the Global Wellness Institute. She is a member of the Institute’s Wellness Architecture and Design Initiative, a select group of global leaders advancing the role of design in human health and translating wellness and regenerative principles into real-world applications.
Her work is informed by leading research in environmental health and building science, including frameworks from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and the International WELL Building Institute, and shaped by nearly two decades of experience in high-end residential design.
