Achieving Pending B Corp status marks a major milestone in WLLW’s dedication to social responsibility and sustainability.
When I founded WLLW it marked a personal and professional turning point as I had experienced first-hand the impacts of the built environment on health and wellbeing in my own home. This revelation forever changed how I work and how my family and I live.
In this first year of business, I’ve met and worked with extraordinary people who share the same qualities and values as I do, often ignited by personal experiences that have set them on their own new paths. It’s that passion and purpose – a determination to foster health, wellbeing and sustainability in our homes and our lives – that’s at the heart of why WLLW exists.
These values have always been integral to WLLW and today, I am very proud to share that we have now reached Pending B Corp status, a first step in the process of becoming fully B Corp certified. It is a significant milestone in WLLW’s journey and one that we are committed to wholeheartedly as we take the next steps towards full certification.
What is a Pending B Corp exactly? Having ‘pending’ status means we’re officially on the path to full B Corp certification, which has been labeled “a beacon for the highest standards of sustainable and socially responsible business practices.” This purposeful, long-term commitment impacts a company at every level – from clients to communities, employees to the environment, B Corp companies pledge to have a positive influence and be a force for good.
So many of the key components of the B Corp mission have always been a part of WLLW’s DNA. We know that we can be better by doing better, which is at the heart of our ethos and commitment to becoming B Corp certified, and we are already taking the practical steps to live up to our values. We only offer products that are healthy and sustainable, that add value to our lives and are made to last. We are focused on circularity, reuse and recycling to reduce waste and we aim to provide complete transparency over both our products’ provenance and our company operations. We are also dedicated to working with partners who share our values of ethical employee treatment and we seek to empower underrepresented groups.
We look forward to our next steps in joining the B Corp Community of over 8,000 companies worldwide such as Patagonia, Aesop and Allbirds, as well as those in the home furnishings space such as Armadillo and Avocado, all taking part in a larger movement for change and progress.
We are excited about what lies ahead and look forward to sharing more news later this summer.
