Building for the Future: How Traditional Techniques Can Cool Our Homes
WLLW explores how age-old architectural techniques from some of the world’s warmest areas can help us create sustainable homes that are comfortable even in extreme heat.
Founded in Copenhagen in 2005 by Trine Andersen, Ferm Living offers a modern interpretation of Scandinavian design – soft minimalism drawn from mid-century roots, working in wood, porcelain, metal and organic cotton. Their collection includes products made with GOTS-certified organic textiles, FSC wood and GRS-certified recycled materials, held to standards that protect human health alongside the environment. The name, drawn from the Danish phrase ferm på fingrene, means skilled with one’s hands.
